Migration planning and execution

  1. Create a list containing all mailboxes with corresponding size and amount of emails.

  2. Make sure you have the access credentials (login names and passwords) of the mailboxes to be migrated (from your current server) and the new mailboxes at hand. If you want to migrate with an admin account, the access credentials (login name and password) of the admin account and the mailboxes names are required.

  3. Start our Migration service, configure your custom server and start a trail migration of one mailbox. Please note the duration of the migration and the size of the mailbox. In addtion, please observe the load of the server during migration.

  4. Calculate the total migration time with the gathered information. If you have to switch a domain or MX record, please include it into your migration planning.

  5. Configure your custom server depending on the gathered load of the test migration. The migration should not fully load the server (we recommend a load of max 90%). Configure each mailbox or use a CSV file and strat the migration.

  6. If required, switch the domain or MX record after all migration the jobs have been successfully completed.

  7. Switch users and email software to the new mailboxes.

  8. Wait until the DNS-cache time is over (generally 24h) and start the delta sync.
